Baxter arrived in 1958 under the name of Travenol and opened its first plant in Carolina, making it the first life science company to establish a manufacturing presence in Puerto Rico.
Fact 2: Today, 30 world-leading medical device companies are manufacturing in Puerto Rico
These 30 companies generate 20,000 direct jobs across 70 manufacturing plants producing more than 2,500 different types of devices, from simple but essential products like surgical instruments and dental products to complex life-sustaining products such as cardiac pacemakers and insulin pumps.
