On Aug. 2, 2016, Actavis Generics was acquired by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA), a leading global pharmaceutical company, providing daily high-quality, customer-centric healthcare solutions for millions of patients worldwide.
There are three independent structures in Bulgaria:
Production company
Actavis’ manufacturing company in Bulgaria is part of Teva’s global manufacturing structure, Teva Global Operations (TGO). It includes two plants in the cities of Dupnitsa and Troyan (Balkanpharma Dupnitsa AD and Balkanpharma Troyan AD) and maintenance functions in Sofia. The factories have more than 60 years of history in pharmaceutical production. They offer and realize their production through Teva’s trading companies in many countries around the world.
Both plants have modern and high-capacity production facilities, state-of-the-art quality control laboratories and science and technology centers. All production and quality activities are carried out in full compliance with the regulatory requirements of the countries for which the production is intended.
Modern systems for protecting the environment, ensuring healthy and safe working conditions, training and development of employees are implemented and maintained. The factories in Dupnitsa and Troyan are specialized in the production of a wide range of generic pharmaceutical forms.
Commercial part
Actavis EAD, the company of Teva, offers the richest product portfolio on the Bulgarian market – over 260 high quality pharmaceutical products for human use under the international non-proprietary name covering a large number of therapeutic groups – central nervous system, digestive system, blood and blood-forming organs, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, dermatology, antibiotics, vitamins and nutritional supplements, etc. Serious and proven quality is the presence of Actavis in more specific areas such as multiple sclerosis, oncology and medicinal products for the hospital market.
Global functions
We are proud that it is in Bulgaria that there are several departments that work at the corporate level and serve the whole world. At the global level, the Supply Chain, Intellectual Property, In-Licensing, TPM, Business Analysis, and more work.
