Jackie Hunter is one of the UK’s most respected leaders in scientific innovation. She has over thirty years of experience in the bioscience research sector, working across academia and industry including leading neurology and gastrointestinal drug discovery and early clinical development for GlaxoSmithKline. She founded OI Pharma Partners in 2010 to support the life science sector in harnessing the power of open innovation and most recently was Chief Executive of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. She is currently Chief Executive of Clinical and Strategic Partnerships and Board Director at BenevolentAI, who create machine learning and AI technologies to transform the way medicines are discovered, developed, tested and brought to market.

Jackie is currently a chair of the Trustee Directors at The Sainsbury Laboratories, a Trustee at the Science Media Centre, a Director of the UK BioIndustry Association, and a Visiting Professor of Life Sciences at Imperial College London and she holds a personal chair from St George’s Hospital Medical School, which was awarded in recognition of her contribution to bioscience research.

For her services to the pharmaceutical industry, she was awarded a CBE in 2010, Birthday Honours and the 2010 Women of Achievement in Science, Engineering and Technology Award for Discovery, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. She is also a member of the Biomedical Advisory Board member for A* Singapore.
