Anugerah Corporation is a diversified holding company with its primary businesses in the pharmaceutical industry. Founded by Dr. Willem Wanandi in 1983 after he returned from chairing the WHO’s ‘Drug Action Plan’(DAP) in Geneva. The first business was PT Anugerah Pharmindo Lestari (APL) on the distribution side of the business. Combiphar, a generics manufacturer, was acquired in 1985. Tigaka Distrindo Perkasa (TDP) was then acquired in 1997 to expand the business into raw materials importing. Anugerah Corporation holds between 20-30 companies, including a number of smaller pharmaceutical service providers such as Pahala Bumi Pertiwi, Farmindo, Pharma Serve, Pharma Health Care, C2, Crush, SCH, BP, and AIL. Anugerah Corporation now holds a minority stake in APL, having sold 70% of the company to Zuellig in 2005. The group has 2500 employees across its various business, with Combiphar by far the largest at over 1000 employees. Combiphar has 15 OTC products and 122 Ethical drugs. They are seeking to incorporate nanotechnology as a key component of their new products, having launched Pronemia, a nano-iron supplement, in 2008.
