In 2005, Astellas Pharma Ges.m.b.H. was founded after the merger of Fujisawa Ges.m.b.H.—formerly known as Klinge Pharma—with Yamanouchi. With its establishment, the company added Urology to its other key areas of therapeutic focus, which include Transplantation, Dermatology, Anti-infectives, Pneumology, and Pain Management. 2008 also marked the creation of a local Research & Development organisation—an important advance that will further strengthen the partnership we hold with our shareholders. This exciting development is also playing an essential role in our achievement of the goals set forth by VISION 2015.
