Celgene s.r.o. company, established in 2008, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the international headquarters of Celgene Corporation. Celgene is a biopharmaceutical company which discovers, develops and commercializes innovative therapies for the treatment of cancer and other inflammatory diseases. PharmDr. Lenka Poleková, MBA, now Country Manager, was the first employee in the Czech Republic. Her aim from the very beginning was to ensure that Celgene employs qualified professionals, who believe and act in line with the Celgene commitment to improving the lives of patients worldwide. This motto has guided our employees from the beginning of the existence of the Czech subsidiary and was reflected in the actions taken by the company, for example:
· In the very beginning, in the frame of the CUP program, we enabled treatment of 24 patients with multiple myeloma thorough a donation of the drug
· More than 300 patients have been treated as part of the clinical trials conducted by Celgene in the broad spectrum of hemato-oncological a oncological diseases (MDS, AML, CLL, MCL, DLCL, peripheral T-cell lymphoma, MM, small cell lung cancer, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, prostate cancer)
· More than 1,200 hemato-oncological patients or patients with cancer have been treated so far in the Czech Republic (with Celgene products as part of clinical trials)
· As in the rest of the world, the Czech subsidiary supports in the form of grants including research and pre-clinical grants for academic institutions and independent investigators the development of the treatment of patients across the broad spectrum of hemato-oncological diseases.
Our commitment to clinical accomplishments and patient support is a guiding principle at Celgene. Some examples of the support programs for patients in Czech Republic include:
Psychological Care Program
Educational DVDs and CDs for patients
Yoga and patients
Our employees are highly trained and qualified individuals. Currently there are 12 employees working in the Czech subsidiary of Celgene who are willing to broaden their knowledge and experience and who have one joint answer to the question why they go to work – because they like their job. Our employees are in the right place, at the right time, doing the right things, to build on the Company’s scientific and commercial achievements.
