Founded in 1972, originally known as Bill Farmacêutica, Eurofarma is one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the country. As a domestic company with 100 percent closed-end capital, this brand is present in every segment through its Business Units – Medical Prescription, Generic Medication, Hospital, Bidding Contests, Oncology, Services for Third Parties, Veterinary Science (Pearson), Euroglass and Exports.
In this journey, which completed 40 years in 2012, Eurofarma has grown and consolidated as one of the biggest Brazilian pharmaceutical companies. In 2012, its net sales value was of R$1.8 billion, with a production of 192 millions medicine units. This result made Eurofarma reach 2nd place in medical prescriptions, with a market share of 5.32% (Close-up from Dec/12), and 4th place in the ranking for biggest Brazilian generic medication companies (IMS/PMB).
In March, 2013, Eurofarma bought Refasa Carrión, present in Peru for 57 years. The company has its own factory and covers segments of medical prescription, OTC and skin cosmetics.
With this acquisition, Eurofarma stands a little closer to globalization covering 64% of the Latin American market.
