Farma was founded in 1960 by Mr Alfredo Kuster from Switzerland. In the early years of its founding the company represented Swiss companies such Bern and later it began to combine licenses with its own products. Farma de Colombia previously carried licenses from multinational companies such as Astra Zeneca and Parke Davis. Farma de Colombia has leading brands in 6 lines such as Bedoyecta, Milpax, Stamyl, Akatinol, Colypan and Herrex. Calcibon is the leading prescription Calcium in Colombia. Farma de Colombia competes in gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, pediatric and gynecological areas as well as CNS. Farma de Colombia also has a non-prescription line of products (OTC). At present Farma de Colombia has strategic associations with Liomont and Valeant from Mexico, Ache from Brazil, Merz from Germany and the Swiss company Vifor. Farma de Colombia exports around $6 million to Panama and Ecuador. Farma de Colombia’s total sales in 2009 were $35 million. Farma de Colombia has 150 employees, of which two thirds are dedicated to Sales & Marketing. Farma de Colombia ranks 17th in sales in the Colombian pharmaceutical market.
