Febelgen was founded in 2001 as an umbrella organization representing the generic medicines industry in Belgium. In 2006, the organization 6 members, today that number 13, mainly in the field of generics, and biosimilar medicines. Febelgen represents 100% of the generics sector in Belgium.
Febelgen provides its members customized advice on the marketing of generic drugs. The focus is on individual registration, pricing and reimbursement. But other matters are discussed, including the application of the legislation on information and promotion, the patent system or the duty to return to old and expired medicines. Febelgen recommends an integrated approach, in which the individual drug file is part of the overall strategic approach of the company. Members can make use of specific tools such as calculators or individual planning statements. Moreover, Febelgen represents the generic drug industry across a variety of stakeholders and policy bodies in healthcare, including the Government, Parliament, the Belgian social security, the Federal Drug Agency, patient organizations and the various doctors ‘and pharmacists’ associations.
