The Hungarian Society of Clinical Oncology (MKOT) was established in August 1998. The objective was to set up a scientific organization dedicated to the advancement of anti-cancer therapy. The Hungarian Oncological Association, then in operation for several decades, provided an umbrella organization for many anti-cancer disciplines, however, the rapid development of clinical oncology made it necessary to launch a separate scientific forum for specialists in this field.
