The Malaysian Biotechnology Information Centre (MABIC) was set up in June 2000 to bridge the information gap amongst various stakeholder groups and to make technical information more accessible to non-technical individuals. MABIC is a not-for-profit, local node of a global network, with sister offices across all continents. MABIC’s parent institute is International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA). The aime of the Information Centre is to generate and foster closer relations amongst various stakeholders in order to enhance the exchange of information and knowledge these groups. MABIC strives to provide a platform where important issues in biotechnology can be explored and discussed.
Seminars, workshops and public forum are organised in collaboration with interested parties to create public awareness and to inform stakeholders of the current issues in biotechnology. MABIC also facilitates dialogues between stakeholder groups encouraging broad perspective discussions on various biotech topics. Additionally, MABIC also releases a series of publication on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
With a mission to provide scientifically accurate and fact-based resources to all the stakeholders, MABIC strives to support the Government’s efforts in developing biotechnology as a tool for national development.
