The National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) is the Chilean institution responsible for the management and promotion of industrial property. It is charged with recognizing and enforcing the industrial property law. It is also the body that registers and deal with all the documentation related to intellectual property of any product that is commercialized in Chile (IP, patents, brands, etc). The institute also serves as an advisory body to the President and any Ministry requiring assistance in the development and signing of an international treaty. In their role as the registering entity for intellectual property they are also responsible to participate in the resolution of any dispute concerning IP.

INAPI is recognized for its contribution to industrial innovation based on best processes and technology, high capacity service, high reliability and impartiality, and focused on continuous performance improvement. Their mission is to contribute to national development by encouraging innovation and creativity through the protection of industrial property and knowledge management, based on processes that ensure effectiveness, efficiency, quality, legality, accessibility and certainty of information

The National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) also promotes initiatives and develop activities to disseminate knowledge of industrial property statistics, studies on the matter and provide information services to users (for example: writing reports and collecting data to facilitate technology transfer)
