Novartis was created in 1996 from the merger of the Swiss companies, Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz. Our name, ‘Novartis’ derived from the latin ‘novae artes’ means ‘new skills’.
In 2006, Novartis celebrated 10 years of helping patients worldwide since the successful creation of a health care leader through the merger. With its headquarters in Basel, Novartis operates in 140 countries and has more than 98 000 employees.
Novartis South Africa embodies Novartis core corporate purpose, which is to ‘Care and Cure’, putting the patient at the centre of all that we do.
