Poland is by far the largest pharma market in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region, with a total value of EUR 6.352 billion for 2017. The Czech Republic is in second place, followed by Romania and Hungary
The CEE countries that exported the highest value of pharmaceutical products in 2017 were by far Hungary and Poland.
Poland spent the most on research and development in the CEE region in 2017 with EUR 340 million. The rest of the top five’s spending was around the EUR 100 million mark.
Poland has the highest generics penetration in the CEE region, followed by Bulgaria.
