The Shenzhen International Institute for Biomedical Research (SIIBR) is a not-for-profit organization founded by the Shenzhen city government and located in the newly developed Dapeng district. Its function is two-fold.
Foremost the mission of SBIIR is to create an environment for the international scientific community to meet and collaborate in the development of innovative therapeutic approaches to intractable human diseases.
Current focus of SIIBR is on cancer, debilitating chronic viral infections and antibiotic-resistant hospital acquired bacterial infections.
Its second mission is to train young scientists in all aspects of biomedical research, assist in the development of medical education in Shenzhen, and contribute to the education of practicing physicians. SIIBR will host extended visits by members of the International Scientific Community.
