Following on from our list of the overall top 10 companies in the Saudi Arabian pharma market, here PharmaBoardroom highlights some of the top domestic companies in the USD 8.2 billion Saudi pharma market, many of which are now well-established and carving out international footprints.

 

Tabuk Pharmaceuticals

Founded in 1994, Tabuk Pharmaceuticals is the largest private Saudi pharma company with more than 250 registered products, commercial operations in 25 countries, four active manufacturing sites, and over 2,000 employees. The Riyadh-headquartered firm’s USD 410 million in sales puts it in fourth place in the overall Top Ten list.

Tabuk, which focuses on the development, production, and marketing of generic medicines, country GI and diabetes, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, respiratory, infection, and the central nervous system as its core therapeutic areas.

 

SPIMACO

Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries & Medical Appliances Corporation (SPIMACO) sat in fifth place in the overall Saudi pharma market in 2019 with USD 385 million in sales. Established in 1996, SPIMACO’s core business is the development, manufacturing, and sales of pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

The company has partnerships and alliances with a host of global Big Pharma players for co-marketing and co-promotion, brand acquisition, product divestment, contract manufacturing, licensing in, and licensing out. It recently inked a deal with Janssen to establish manufacturing capabilities in Saudi Arabia.

 

Jamjoom Pharma

Founded in 2000, generics firm Jamjoom Pharma has expanded rapidly from its Saudi Arabian roots and now brands itself as an ‘Afrasia Enterprise’, with operations across 26 Middle Eastern, African, and CIS Countries.

The company has products across a wide range of therapeutic areas, is in the process of creating manufacturing facilities in Egypt and Algeria in addition to its existing plant in Jeddah, and holds over 1000 employees.

In 2020, Frost & Sullivan awarded Jamjoom the ‘KSA Company of the Year’ for its operational excellence and expanded product portfolio and footprint.

 

Riyadh Pharma

Established in 1994 close to the city of Riyadh, Riyadh pharma holds a manufacturing facility of 22,000m2 capable of producing over 100 generic and licensed products for both domestic and international markets.

 

DEEF Pharmaceutical Industries

DEEF Pharmaceutical Industries started life in June 2007 and today has more than 80 registered products, with a pipeline covering a vast range of therapeutic areas and special focus on Dermatology, Respiratory, Alimentary tract & Metabolism, Cardiovascular and Central nervous systems.
